Designing automotive lighting has become a delicate balance between aesthetics, performance and sustainability. While, traditional lighting systems exhibits proven robustness, they often rely on multiple plastic components, complex optical assemblies, reflectors, diffusers and mechanical supports. These elements can limit design freedom, add weight, increase system complexity and make it harder to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. At the same time, today’s expectations are changing. Designers are looking for thinner, more distinctive and seamlessly integrated light signatures. Engineers are looking for lighter, simpler and more efficient systems and sustainability teams are pushing for fewer materials, lower CO₂ impact and cleaner product architectures. These demands require difficult compromises where conventional technologies can address some of these requirements, but often at the expense of others.

This is the challenge LuxiBright® was developed to address: enabling beautiful, efficient and more sustainable automotive lighting through a fully integrated light solution, without forcing unnecessary compromises between design, performance and system efficiency . LuxiBright® combines a miniaturized laser source with a nano-active optical fiber approximately one millimeter thin. The fiber can bend, curve and follow complex three-dimensional surfaces, allowing light to become part of the vehicle design rather than an added component. Unlike conventional architectures, LuxiBright® does not require bulky reflectors, diffusers or secondary optics to shape the light. The assembly is made easy and the emission pattern is engineered directly within the nano-active fiber, enabling controlled, high-intensity illumination designed to meet demanding automotive requirements. By simplifying the lighting architecture, LuxiBright® can reduce system weight by up to 70%, lower energy consumption by up to 40% and eliminate up to 50% of traditional lighting side components. For electric vehicle manufacturers, this can contribute to lower weight, improved efficiency and a reduced carbon footprint. For designers, it opens a new level of freedom: an ultra-thin, high-intensity light source that can merge discreetly into the vehicle surface when off and reveal a distinctive, unmistakable lighting signature when on.
